Meadows Wellbeing offers a tailored Child Pyschotherapy program via our Child Psychotherapist Tallulah Hedges.
Child Psychotherapy 'PsyKid'
Providing bespoke quality psychological care for children, adolescents and their families
Child therapy is not always easy for parents or carers to discuss. Whether traumatic issues are being battled with, or your young person is simply struggling with the brave and challenging act of being human, PsyKid is here to help. It makes sense that parents and guardians need professional, experienced insight to enable their child to understand their emotions, learn how to overcome the difficulties that they are experiencing, and to focus on positive growth.
Incorporating Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT) and Positive Psychology principles and techniques, PsyKid offers a safe, understanding, and empathetic space to bring about change in thoughts, feelings, and behaviours. Just like adult clients, child clients receive emotional and goal focused support in their sessions. Establishing a comfortable, trusting relationship with the young person, PsyKid focuses on supporting the young person to understand their thoughts and feelings, and subsequently navigate forward-oriented solutions to resolve their psychological conflicts.
Positive Psychology: The Masterclass
Traditionally in psychology, the focus has been on identifying and treating mental health problems. This is critically important for those facing mental illness however, it provides an incomplete picture of mental health.
Positive psychology is a relatively new branch of psychology that shifts the focus from what is clinically wrong, to the promotion of wellbeing and the creation of a satisfying life filled with meaning, pleasure, engagement, positive relationships and accomplishment. Scientific research continues to show that positive psychology increases wellbeing and general enjoyment in life.
This course will teach you the concepts within positive psychology, in addition to including mental activities that you can practice and incorporate into your life to create a cognitive shift towards positive appraisals of yourself, your environment, and your life.
Duration: 2.5 hours including refreshments

What To Expect From Your Consultation & Treatments
The first session is a 30 minute friendly and relaxed consultation. For the consultation, it is preferable to speak with the parent/parents alone without the child if possible, but it is absolutely fine if there are no childcare options. Within this initial meeting, conversations regarding what is currently being experienced by the child will be discussed so that Tallulah can understand the issues at hand, form a picture, and then be able to design bespoke psychotherapy sessions which are tailored towards the young person. The psychotherapeutic journey will vary based upon the child’s age and specific needs. 4-6 sessions are usually recommended, but this can be flexible depending on individual circumstances.
